Did anyone buy the extended on their bikes? How many years and how much did it cost? Do you think it is wise on the 6th Gen to purchase an extended warranty?

I didn't buy it yet, but I will. (You can buy it any time before the 1-year factory warranty expires.) It's $640 at my dealer.

Didn't buy it, won't buy it. They are a HUGE money maker for the dealers and the company that runs the program.

Can't say about the VFR (Haven't got one yet). But I bought an extended warranty for my wifes SUV and it saved us $5600 (Warranty was 800ish and the total repair bill for the computer (s)/wiring harness repair was $6400). This was for a Toyota with a bad wiring harness that kept burning out computers.

It's your call the reason why I purchased the extended warranty is to have peace of mind you'll never know what will gonna happen to the motorcycle. The VFR are great motorcycle. The amount of the warranty is $660 for another 4 years better to save some money and pay it cash instead of putting it to financing.

The pricing on warranties is always negotiable, so keep that in mind (at least it was on the last 3 cars I bought and my boat). As someone else mentioned, if you decide to buy it, don't include it in the finance agreement - you'll pay interest on it. I'd say 95+% of the warranty companies will allow you to finance it over a 12 month period interest free.

Whether or not to get it is entirely up to you and your funds.

Is the warranty transferable? If so, and you only plan on having your bike for "X" years, it may be a good selling point. Having a warranty on a used bike is likely to give the next buy some piece of mind.

I can get 4 years of Honda care for $430 and if I decide to sell a couple of years down the road it is a great selling tool and one, only one repair could easily pay for the warranty. I think peace of mind is worth $430.00 so I probably will purchase in October.

I looked at it, but it was pretty expensive. I bought it from a different dealer for my M109 because I didn't have a lot of confidence in Suzuki. It was a lot cheaper than the suzuki deal when i bought the bike, and it was the same Suzuki extended warranty. I don't know if Honda does the same thing or not. However from the dealer an extra year was big bucks I thought. I am not worried about the Honda. I think their product is much better and they stand behind it Suzuki doesn't They push issues that are design problems off on to the owners.

Its a honda motorcycle, they don't break. As long as its not a first year product run on either a new model bike, or complete redesign, I have 100% faith in Honda. Save your money, or use it towards an accessory or new tires IMO.

Mine is through my dealer, and it is not Honda extended warranty. I think I paid around $500 for 3 years and it covers ALL maintenance (including scheduled maintenance and an annual dyno run). I had my bike in for major service last week (flush all fluids, replace air filter (or clean my K&N), replace plugs, etc.) and I also had them check the valves. It was an all day job so that one instance pretty much paid for my extended warranty.
