Hi all, I am looking at replacing my 2001 vfr exhaust with another stock exhaust, I am wondering if a 98, 99, 00 and 01 stock headers will all fit the same? also I read some info. which suggested that the 98 and 99 with out the cat will improve the performance. I am wondering also, if the O2 sensor 300k ohm resistor mod does anything for the 2001 model. I understand that 2002 and newer it helps lag in the v-teck, but the 2001 in not v-teck. Thanks for your input.

Yeah - the 98 and 99 headers will bolt right up. Cant say anything about the O2 sensor.
Consider Motad headers too. They are stainless steel.

if you go the aftermarket exhaust route, especially full exhaust, you will need a power commander to tune it.......the PC requires the O2 sensors to be dyno tuned correctly. The motad with aftermarket cans was good for more than 7 hp when i got mine tuned, of course results will vary....unless your tuner uses an eddy current dyno. if you get the motad have it jethot coated. fully mod the airbox for maximum results, it's not just for sound anymore.........

I thought the other years might fit, thanks for confirming that. My other concern is the 1998, 99 don't have a cat, is it important to have the cat or can I just do without?
    Thanks
