Well this is my first step here, in this fabulous comunity of VFR owners.
Lets see where it will take me. I hope that to a lot of places with (at least) some of you.
If you ever come to Portugal, email me. Perhaps we can meet.

Great to see worldwide involvement. I plan to travel all over the owlrd eventually. I am a nurse by trade so once the kids have graduated, we'll be heading out because I can pretty much work anywhere the speak English. Hopefully I can take the bike with me! I think my first stop will be New Zealand or Australia for 6 months or so. I also will work in Europe for about 6 months, but I'm gonna try and time it for the best possible weather! :)

Last year I went to France, to visit the Mte Saint Michel.

If any of you ever come to Europe, consider a visit to Portugal. It will be worthy. And if you bring your VFR, you will never forget your holidays...

Wife is a travel crazy and lives for vacation, we have been to Europe four times and Portugal was next on our list, It was a real bargain before the euro dollar, probably one of the best bargains in the world till they introduced that damn thing. But I'm guessing living in Portugal, the Euro is probably a good thing.

P.S. I was hoping Portugal would beat Germany in the World Cup

I think Portuguese is slightly different from Spanish, but my Spanish teacher said if you know one, it's pretty easy to learn the other.

I woudn't say it is pretty easy, but yes, it's easier. As an example, when a portuguese speaks to a spanish talker he does understand most of what the other is saying.

I've been to Isla Terceira, in the Azores, does that count? Portugues food & wine are oustanding & I truely enjoy spending time there. I've never made it to mainland Portugal although I want too.

    KC-10 FE out...

I lived on that Island for 3 1/2 years. But that was when I was a kid. I think Portugal is a little nicer then the Azores.

If you have been in the Azores (Açores in portuguese), you've been in Portugal. Although there are some diferences between the Portuguese Azores Islands, the Portuguese Madeira Islands and the Portuguese Mainland, they all belong to the Portuguese Republic.

Personaly, I don't think that the Portuguese Mainland is nicer than the Azores or Madeira. They are diferent. But they all deserve a visit.

Hope you have enjoyed your staying in the Azores. Now you must come and visit the mainland. And when you do, give me a call.
