engine won't rev past 2500 for a bit then comes good

    Last few weeks my 2001 non v-tec vfr800 has been loosing power for aminute or so while riding. just starts to die and wham , out of nowhere comes good again. Seems to only happen in the first 5 minutes of riding from cold engine start. I always warm her up to about 65 degrees C before I get going. Has me stumped? Anyone out there ever heard of this before?
