I have been riding inline fours foerever. This is my first V engine configuration and it is a completely different frequency of vibration. So I was wondering how much throb from the engine does the average VFR owner feel through the bars and pegs?

Wow... funny you should ask this. This is the very reason I just created an account here. Test rode an '02 with 26k miles... Noticed a mid throttle vibration that I thought was odd. But I'm coming from and I4 as of late... Hope to hear some good feedback.

I think a lot of what you will feel will depend on your gear selection and rpm. When I ride the piss out of my VFR and keep the rpms up, I don't notice much at all. However for my everyday use I do feel quite a bit but not nearly what a v-twin produces. For example, if I am in third gear at 8000 rpm (about 70mph I think) and accelerate hard, it is pretty smooth all the way to red line. However if I am in sixth gear at about 4500 rpm (about 65mph I think) and accelerate hard, there is quite a bit. It most certainly is going to be more rough that an inline 4 almost all the way around. As long as it isn't shaking like a Harley everything should be normal.

Thanks for the reply Meatloaf . Your description is roughly the same as what I experience so I can put my mind at ease.

I have a 1988 VFR750F with 102000km. I have also have a harsh vibration that starts about 100km (5000+rpm) in 6th but the vibration is as bad in any gear at around 100km. I would like to reduce the vib. Different people have mentioned chain/sprocket issues or wheel alignment. The wheel and swingarm fell firm with no free play. Any one have any ideas?

Yes sir I think that's just really a V4 thing. It seems that a wide open throttle anywhere between 3,500 to 5,000 causes some vibration on my 07 and my buddy's 04.
