I know this is a shot in the dark, but i've got a wicked engine vibration at above 5000 RPM. I can feel it through the foot pegs. Its pretty bad, and i also have a slight noise thats coming out of the crank case. it goes with engine speed. is there any common issue with these bikes? hopefully an easy fix? any info/testing suggestions are appreciated. thanks :) I just had the valves adjusted and it did not change the noise (they were slightly tapping, but that noise is fixed now) bike has 13k miles on it

pull compression tests.. or it sounds like you have a main bearing that is on its way out...... is it firing on all cylinders? how does it shift?

it runs great. shifts fine. the shifter kinda gets stuck sometimes.. like i might have to roll the bike to get it into first out of neutral, but Im not worried about that. and I was thinking a main bearing too... :\

Start scanning CL for a bike from the 90's.

Your VF has low miles and should still be OK, but anything seriously wrong in the engine would hardly be worth rebuilding.

thats what Im afraid of. I was thinking about selling it now. It runs so good, it just has these little issues, and I think down the road itll go boom and then im effed.

That might be your best bet.

I went from a 1986 VF500 to a 1986 VFR750 and I couldn't be happier. The bike is better in so many different ways.

But if you wanna spend as little time wrenching as possible, buy a newer bike.

I cant find a 750 anywhere :( lol. mine is in really good cosmetic shape. minus the little engine problems. Thats my goal is a 750 tho I love these bikes and I get compliments everywhere. :O

i was looking at newer bikes too, but they are a PITA to fix cause of all the plastics and junk.
