    I'm fixing up a VF500 that was in a very sad state. The engine needs to be rebuilt and I need to buy a complete gasket. There seems to be some confusion as to whether there is a difference between the '85 and'86 engine and I was wondering if somebody on here could clear that up for me. :confused:

    I will confirm 100% true, the engine for the VF500F was the same for the 84, 85, and 86, and was also the same engine used for the 84 and 85 Magna V30;

    Engine

    Four-stroke, 90 degree V4 (V-four)
    Liquid cooled, dual overhead chain drive camshafts
    32mm CV Carburetors
    Four valves per cylinder
    Bore and stroke - 60x44 mm
    Compression ratio 11.0:1
    Oil capacity 3.2 quarts
    12,000 rpm redline
    Six-speed transmission, wet clutch
    Automatic cam-chain tensioners
    Self-adjusting hydraulic clutch
