Since my engine oil is ready to be replaced, I was looking at local online stores for price comparation and noticed that all brands has additives for flushing engine oil. Start motorcycle, keep it idle until working temperature is achieved, add bottle to the old oil in the crankcase. Run engine for 15 minutes to circulate flush. Drain engine, replace filter and fill with new oil. Have you ever done this? What are pros/cons?

How many miles on current oil and what type is it? (Petroleum based (cheap oil), Synthetic Blend or Real Synthetic (Amsoil & Mobil 1 only).

Since you never completely drain oil, that means there would always be some flush left behind.

Never in my 50 years of driving cars, trucks and bikes have I ever heard of anyone using such a product.

I have heard and seen Radiator Flush for cooling systems, but not for oil.

If you want a "con"... The concentrated solvents from the flushing additives could screw up the clutch plates. I wouldn't even consider doing it.
If anything just buy a gallon of low viscosity Rotella (low cost and still ok oil) and run that for a week or so and then change it out again. That will clean things up pretty well.

    I agree.

Do you feel oil has been contaminated? Sat for a long time?

Motorcycles need specific oils because of wet clutch, can not use any oil with "friction modifiers".

Flush oil ?? Usta do that on old cars using non-detergent oil sometimes, but would not use on a modern 'cycle.

I have never said that I will do it. Just wondering what could be done with additive . If some brands ( Bardahl, Motul ) produce/advertise such alchemistry, my thoughts are that it is good for engine. Btw , oil in my bike is Bardahl, change on every 5000 km with oil filter.

Ask your self this: does my oil have an api rating dated 1990 or newer? Is my oil jaso ma specified? If the answer is yes then forget the oil flush additive. Your oil already has the correct modifiers, solvents and detergents to reduce carbon sludge. Adding anything else is both not recommended and courting new clutch syndrome. If your really concerned about doing a flush get some 5w dino oil and as said before run that and change the filter twice. Once after the first few days of riding and again a few days of riding after that. Then drain and replace oil and filter with your prefered oil and filter. Just make sure any oil and or modifier is jaso ma specified or you will be doing clutches sooner than you'd want to.
