I can believe im asking this question.

But Has anybody else ever had this problem

I Can't get the stock seat of my 2004 VFR.
I have only had it a month and have had the seat off like 3 times.

I put the tool kit away and then i put the manual and insurance paper under the seat and put the seat away. Now I turn the key and the seat doesnt pop up, Even after holding key and puling and pushing and prying on it..... Nothing.. What too do ?

    HELP

have some one turn the key and then pull gentely from the back of the seat towards the back of the bike i find if you stuff to much under the seat it somtimes binds a little and cause the locking mechanism at the rear of the seat not to realse properly . you really cant put much under the seat

Can you feel the key actually grabbing and opening latch? If so have someone hold key in open postion and shake seat a little until it opens. If not take it do the dealer and have them work on opening it.Good luck and enjoy.

maybe try pushing down on the seat while turning the key. I don't own a newer VFR but my old virago would do the same thing and I had to push it down and the latches would release.

    yay post 100 for me!

On mine I can hear the latch disengaging at the rear end of the seat. You getting any clicking toward the rear of the seat when you turn the key? If it sounds like the latch is working I would try hitting the hump between the two sections of the seats, but I suspect you've tried that already.

Checj the sides of the seat they tend to have a plastic latch that clips in to the body, If that doesnt work while trying to free it just enjoy your bike you need the seat on more than off lol. A word to the wise The only foolish Question is the ONE not ASKED.

Kinda figured. Been in similar situations, and percusive maintenance is usually my first responce. But, with my seat I can distinctly hear the latch at the back of the seat working when I turn the key, even when standing next to the bike. I guess I would look at trying to get direct access to either the cable or the latch.
    Good luck.

    FIXED

the cable was attached, but not correctly, a few weeks ago i had the locks changed on the bike and when they changed the seat latch key they didnt attach the cable correctly, At the end of the cable there is a GREEN plastic end that clips into a bracket on the brass part of the bracket so the cable doesnt slip (just the inside cable.) well it wasnt seated in the bracket so when you turned the key the whole cable moved and the other end attached too the latch under the seat never moved or not at all.
Dont ask how i was able too get the seat off. But once off it was a easy fix.

Did you try to slide the seat backwards and then upwards?
