Hi folks, New here (derr obviously lol). Passed my bike test end of last year and purchased a totally mint 800 Fix (1999) . She's sat in the shed with me impatiently waiting for better and warmer weather to actually get out and ride her Hope to chat soon Shelly
Hi Shelly and welcome to the MadHouse:welcome: Congratulations on getting your motorbike licence:thumbsup:! When you get a chance, please post up a photo of your VFR - as you will quickly discover the folks on here really like photos! [click the "Insert Image" icon, and follow the prompts to select and upload a photo from your computer.] If the roads in Glasgow have as much salt on them as we have up in the Alps, then please don't be in too much of a rush to take the VFR out on the road, or you will be spending a lot of time cleaning the bike after your first ride. Take care SkiMad
Thanks for the reply skimad, I have added some pictures in an album of her but I'll add a sneak peak on here , oh yeah, she's a 50th anniversary edition too There was quite a bit of salt on the roads but the amount of rain we've had the last few days (including flood warnings, glad I live on a hill) that I'm hoping most of it will be gone soon
Did Honda have some special promo in Europe in 1999? I know Honda started selling motorcycles in 1949. It would be interesting to hear about that! The VFR'S 25th. Anniversary was 2007. Like the Two Tone and Welcome!
Tbh maggot I don't know. I'm assuming it's the anniversary of the motor bike arm, would be interesting to look into
Welcome to the World Lass. From the home town of my ancestry. Never been to Glasgow myself but the wife and I did take a tour a few years ago that brought us close by our standards. I can honestly tell you, that if you ride that thing in the rain at highways speeds for any length of time, any solt that you would accumulate would be washed off as if you had used a pressure washer on in. Your climate is really not much different that ours here on the west coast of Canada. They spray a salt brine on the roads during the clear dry weather and rock salt when there is actual snow. I've ridden in that crap for9 years now and there is no signs of the salt working on the metal of the bike. But ya, like skimad says, wash that thing really well if you just go out for short jaunts on the salted roads.
