anyone know what this could be?

Drove to work this morning, no problem.
Went to start bike at end of day, wouldn't start.
Got a jump start from someone.
    Drove home, no problem.

But, here is what I notice...

At idle, the headlight/gauge lights pulsate.
At ~2000 rpm, all light glow brightly.
Over ~2500 rpm, lights dim down a bit.

Shouldn't the light glow brighter at higher RPM?

    Thanks for any help.

How old is the battery? Have you checked the running and revving voltages? How do the wires at the R/R look?

Dude - sounds like R/R replacement time. My old 4th gen did the exact same thing before I replaced it.

Thanks guys... if it is R/R what should I replace it with? I imagine stock would give the same problem eventually. I've heard people recommend GSXr R/R. Good idea?

The OEM replacement R/R's typically have larger fin area for better heat displacement. I'm waay far from an electrical guru, but I would use the upgraded OEM replacement.

    - Maybe some 3rd gen guys could chime in here.
