I am turning attention back to my VF700F after months of neglect (new project got in the way). Anyway, a few months back I installed a mini speedo gauge and mini-tach from Drag Specialties. Speedo worked fine, but the tach only lit up, did a self-check and returned to 0 RPM. With the bike running, all my electronics worked fine except for the tach - it stayed lit, but did not respond to throttle. The instructions that came with the tach mentioned an adaptor might be needed, which I had and installed with the tach. Additionally, it said if the unit did not respond to throttle a capacitor might be required. So, I got the necessary capacitor and attempted to install. At this point I believe something went wrong as after I installed the capacitor, everything is dead except for the backlight on the speedo. No ignition, no headlight, no turn signals, no horn, etc. Fuses are fine, battery is fine - jumped to starter to confirm, solenoid I think is fine as well. My guess is I have a shorted wire somewhere unless someone has another idea?? Are there any other fuses on the bike that could have blown?
