There are less than three months until the election, an election that will
decide the next President of the United States The person elected will be
the president of all Americans, not just the Democrats or the Republicans.
To show our solidarity as Americans, let's all get together and show each
other our support for the candidate of our choice. It's time that we come
together, Democrats and Republicans alike. If you support the policies and
character of John McCain, please drive with your headlights on during the
day. If you support Obama, please drive with your headlights off at
    night.Thank you for your participation.

Funny. What's even funnier though is putting the words McCain, policies, and issues in the same sentence. The only policy he's been interested in is showing off his clueless "hussy" running mate to try and gain ground on the real candidate who actually does discuss issues.

The "real Mavericks"? More like the real jokes.

If you want real change in the White House (and cleaning up the mess that Bush left us in), why would we vote for McCain who voted the same as Bush on issues over 90% of the time. McCain IS Bush, and that is scary.

What is scarier to me though is, McCain being so old, I can't imagine a smalltown ex-mayor only a couple years out leading our country. I mean Holy S###!!!

    Ok, I am drawn in...
Up until recently I was respectful of McCain while supporting Obama. McCain is absolutely an American and a war hero. He'll always have my respect for that.
BUT, recently it is clear he has succumbed to using very negative campaigning, lies and previously-admitted untruths in his advertisements. Even fellow republicans have criticised him for this. Very weak. He has admitted to these but allows them to keep airing. If you want more of the same that Bush has given us for 8 years, vote for him. If you want a completely inexperienced bit of eye candy a heartbeat away from the Presidency, vote for him. It seems that a previously genuine person has allowed his intense desire to be President to cause him to sell out to anyone that will get him there. He'll do anything to get there. Obama genuinely wants to right the wrongs this country has committed. Is he ego-less? No, who could be to run for that office? But I feel he has our best interests at heart.
It is a free country, just vote.

I may be alone but I like mccain better.
Obama just plane scares me with his votting record being proven wrong on just about every policy he has had a say in.

People claim the 90% as though it was signifigant. Most of the senate votes the same, that how things are passed. even democratic sentors vote similar. He is still a republican but that does not mean he is bush.

I really do think the US gov't really needs to cut spending, not increase taxes.

I also wonder how people can support obama, i just don't see any qualities i would want in a leader.

    Sucked in too!

I have worked long and hard to get where I am in life.
Let others work for what they need.
I don't plan on giving away my earnings so we can have a 'Socialist' country.
I'm already in a high enough tax bracket not to get 'incentive' checks from the goverment, and now Obama (and Hillary) want to take more of my money for taxes.
    NO THANKS.
    Universal Healthcare....HA

Give me a break. You know as well as I that universal health care will never come into effect. Doesn't matter what the president (whomever it shall be) says about it.

The Republicans are great at hiding the truth aren't they. I am a hard-working middle class citizen who will not have to worry about Obama "raising taxes". It is the wealthy who have been getting tax cuts for years now because Bush looks out for his wealthy buddies. Obama wants to raise those taxes of the wealthy back where they should be, even with the middle class. So don't fall for the lies about Obama raising taxes for the middle class. Don't you think that the wealthy should be paying the same percentage taxes as the middle class (if not more). They've had it easy way too long due to Bush's eight year frat party.

My main concern as a hard-working middle class teacher is McCain's backing of Bush's ill-planned No Child Left Behind program. The program might work, but both Bush and McCain have failed to vote for fully funding the program. Instead, the state is responsible for funding the program, which in turn is based on test scores. It is a vicious circle, meanwhile there are more and more schools going broke, losing great teachers, eliminating art, music, sports (and whatever other school programs they cannot afford with the declining budgets), and even closing their doors to students. Plus, I don't get social security as a teacher in Illinois. We put our retirement money into the Teacher's Retirement System. This retirement fund is going to be my livelihood in 20 years from now. With Bush (and McCain's) failure to fully fund the NCLB program, the state governments are now sticking their fingers in my cookie jar. I CANNOT allow this to happen to me and my family. Obama will fully fund the NCLB, and that is why all of the union members I know truly believe in his making our future a better place.

I am voting for Obama/Biden. Matter of fact, I feel so strongly about it I have been working for their campaign, walking door-to-door and hitting the university campus. First time I have ever been so involved in a national election. Feels pretty good.

Taxes should absolutely be even across the board! How about a "Fair Tax".
Screw the 'less-priviledged' from paying less taxes. We're already supporting them. I just got back from voting in Cobb County, GA, to increase our 'sales-tax' 1 penny to help support our number one schools in the state! Put that same referendum through in other counties, then.....oh wait, the underprivileged can't afford a penny extra on the dollar. I fully support our school systems, and my son's high school is slated to get 20 mil. out of this bill, that includes teachers!
Don't whine about your 'retirement'. We all have our retirements to worry about. I agree that teachers are underpaid in our society, but MR. OBAMA ain't gonna do anything about that. It goes against the American Dream to take more taxes away from someone that has done 'good' for themselves. Sounds like Socialism to take from the 'rich' and feed the masses. Let's have a society that doesn't work for what they have!
No Thanks, again....I'll keep what I've EARNED, and continue to fight a society that has raised a whole group of people that expect handouts from our government.

#1: Good for you Alaskan. Whether for Obama or for McCain, get involved, do the work, vote.

#2: The goal of taxes has always been about everyone contributing their fair and equal share, not having the middle class bear the bulk of the taxation burden. Currently, the wealthier echelons pay LESS tax by percentage than the middle class. The goal should be about getting back to that balance, not having the wealthy skip out on their responsibility.

Why anyone on this board would promote their chosen politicians is beyond me. I see us all as the same---VFR owners/loyalists. When you inflect your personal political views you alienate or anger other members who disagree, be it strongly or otherwise. I for one don't care if you're democrat, republican, independent, greene, libertarian, or whatever. I hate when politics is interjected into a perfectly good motorcycle forum. I'm not saying that anyone should not be allowed to post about their politics, I just think it's better if they don't. JMO.

I agree with Nungboy - if any of you really believes in a candidate, get off your butt and work the streets and neighborhoods for him/her.

I'm well aware. I just stated that I don't think it's a good idea. The reason I don't discuss politics with friends, is that it can lead to hard feelings. I consider many on this board friends, hence my post.

    I know----don't click on the thread.
