You do good work! That is a huge difference in the time you have had that bike. I is still a shame to me that the owner decided he wanted all that metal flake, I think it would have looked better with just the clear coat but to each their own. Thanks for sharing the project!
Build cost: The bike ran. I rode it to my place to start the work. After I got here I realized how crazy that was. Front pads were gone and the left clip on was bent in a a full inch, locking bolt was shorn off. None the less, I managed to cut a half inch off the chicken strips. Not counting the brakes, tire & chain that are still needed to be obtained by the owner, here is the cost of the build. (GAWD, NEVER let me do a favor like this again) 1. All bolts, nuts & other hardware....$0 ( salvaged from parts in my shop) 2. Body work. a. Used roughly a third of the can of Bondo and hardner I had on hand, call it $10 b. JB Weld: two sets, about $10 c. Primer, filler & sealer: $40 d. Color Paint: red-$50, black $10, White $5, Metalic $30, Clear $30. total $125 3. MODs: the fender, undertail & chain guard I fabricated from scrap in my parts pile, so if you don't count time...$0 4. Wind screen, I picked up a sheet of plastic at a cost of $16, and cut it out myself. SO! For $201 invested, not counting my time and blood, this is what I got invested in the build. And before you call me crazy, I knew for a fact that this guy has a ton of buddies that want work done over the winter and it might be a nice side job to get them to give me that work. I made a few bucks off what I asked him for. But I'll say he got the deal of the century. And I hope my hit on this one brings me some more work. It's a long winter in Ohio. I need my bike fix. If I can't ride, I wanna wrench!
Thanx for sharing dude. You do great work, and I hope folks recognize that and keep you busy all winter.
