The weather will be getting warmer soon and the riding season will be here before we know it. I was hoping to get a run down of all the area riders here on the site. We all know we have some of the best roads here in the Appalachian mountains :first: but they're not limited to only one state.
I'm from Greeneville Tn. Let's hear it from all the area riders and we'll build a buddy list and start planning some group rides.

Like I said, any time ;)

The Trace is a lot of fun, but it gets boring past Leipers Fork. The northern 15 miles or so consists of nice, easy, lazy sweepers but past Leipers Fork the road straightens out and just goes and goes and goes. The total length is 444 miles from Highway 100 in Nashville to Natchez, MS. I've ridden it as far as Tupelo, MS and it did get boring after a few hours. The speed limit from Highway 100 to Leipers Fork is 40 mph and from there on it goes to 50. They patrol it heavily, and it is a federal fine (I've heard $250) if you get caught speeding. They are pretty lenient though, and could have gotten me several times ;)

Lots of photos taken down that way on my web site at This Page (2007) or on This Page (2006). The pages take a minute or so to load since there are so many photos on them.

I'm in Maryland, but enjoy the thought of twisty roads without people in volvos talking on cellphones in my lane.

I drive a beat up Toyota, sometimes with a cell phone in hand.
It sits a lot in the summer. Ready to ride.

NOZ, I guess you would get the iron-butt award if you could make it for one of our Sat rides! On the serious side, EDDIEVALLEYTRAILER, has kicked around the idea of a group gathering in the area (this spring)and spend a couple days touring the area. He posted a thread on the subject if it you think you may want to join the fun.

I rode with Eddie on Sunday
We rode from Johnson City to Backbone rock near Damascus, VA. to Mountain City, back over to Shady Valley then I head home to Bristol over Holston Mountain. I'd ride with Eddie anytime.

I live in Murfreesboro, TN. Just took a ride today down HWY 96 to centerhill dam. Cool ride but the twisties only last a few miles. Just bought my bike three weeks ago but none of my friends have motorcycles and I'm looking for some riding partners. I'd be down for a ride!

If you mean the "Tail of the Dragon" it's a famous section of Highway 129 in Tennessee and North Carolina. Eleven miles long and, supposedly, 318 curves. I've ridden it a couple of times but never bothered to count the curves.

Regardless of where it is I might be interested so keep me updated.
