I have a 98 viffer that I'm fixin up.....I'm in the process of having the wheels chromed. I wanted to get them powder coated, but decided against it. I can always change right?!! I have a buddy who knows how to polish frames. The problem is the swing arm. Does that thing just unbolt or what? I want to have that polished as well......I think he'll do a better job polishing it un-installed rather than trying to get in the tight spaces.:eyebrows:

Thats not to hard, ha ha yea it's a job and a half, as it also acts a a rear engine member, but doable. Make sure if you can, post up photo's as it goes, be interesting to see the process as she moves forward..

I have a '98 too and I pulled the swing arm off the frame too. It's held together by a about a 12 inch long bolt off the frame. Also if you want to polish or chrome it you need to be able to unbolt the 36mm bolt off the left side. (some major hassle) I got abouit that far and decided I didnt want to spend another month working thru disassmbly, finishing it and then reassembly.
BTW, you need a BIG ASS torque wrench to put it back together. Fortunately I was able to borrow one. Good luck on your work - you should probably grab a factory manual. - You could also check out my delink brake story to see the frame strip down to nothing still with the engine attached.

Dude if you are chroming a VFR you should buy a Hayabusa!:hail: Just kidding, each to his own, just realize it might actually be worth less when you are done.

If you have a buddy to do the work cheap/or free though...:yo::rockon:
