So I changed the front gearing on the bike -1 on the front.. don't know why they didn't come from the factory like that.. but anyway, I digress.

I have adjusted the chain to suit and it seems I do not have much adjustment left for when the chain stretches.. the chain (and bike) only has 4000km's on it, so I know the chain is good.

Do most people remove a link when doing this mod ???

I would have thought there would be heaps more room to adjust it back..

My experience with various bikes has been that it was not necessary to remove a link.

But I haven't changed sprockets on my '98 VFR.

In my opinion, for sporty riding it would be good, but not for touring.

Not sure yet myself on adjustment but will keep you posted warna.

I've only adjusted it once and it was close, but still worked.

I did this mod too but kept the same link count with no problems.

just go +2 on the back in addition to -1 on the front... You'll be happy with the chain length. Although, I went back to stock on the front because I have trouble "rollin" on throttle, I tend to "pin it" and the front end kept getting light upon corner exits... IMO: -1 / +2 was just a little too aggressive for anything besides wheelies.
