I need to replace the chain on my '01, and I am thinking about different gearing as well. I would like the bike to rev out a little quicker and to pick
up some revs in low speed corners. I'm also thinking about converting to
a 520 chain, but I'm sure there are drawbacks. (chain life, o-ring vs non o-ring etc.)
    Any advise would be welcome

You will just fine with 530, 525 or 520. If you want to change the gearing specifically for off the line performance, go 1 down on the front & 2 up on the back. Naturally, the 2 drawbacks will be lower MPG & increased rev's at speed.

I like DID chains, 19.7K on the current one. I went +2 on the rear to give me a little more low end grunt but still be able to cruse on the slab.
