Getting ready to install BMC air filter and Staintunes on my 06 VFR. Can anyone tell me if I'll absolutely need a Power Commander with that combo. Mechanic is trying to sell me one but my plan is to wait until I've run if for awhile.

    06 VFR (Black Pearl)
    Heli Bars
    Throttle Meister
    Zero Gravity
    Corbin
    15 tooth front sprocket
    Staintune
    BMC

You can run it for awhile. not going to hurt the bike. Remember these are fuel injected, the bike will compensate to a point with the new set up. I have a K&N with gutted stock exhaust. Hasn't changed my mpg. Has smoothed out the powerban a little, and low end. The main advantage with the pc3, is allowing you to gain the MAX possible power from the upgrades. If you just cruise around and backroads once in awhile, I wouldn't waist the money. If you take it to track days and like to sit in the high rpms, then would consider it.

Absolutely need? No. Want? Hell yeah! Then youll get full benefit of you mods. You can get along without one if you want, but over the long haul its worth it to save your pennies up for one.
