    Hi folks,

My bike (2007 Viffer) is up to 36,000 miles and I want to get the valve adjustment done. The dealer wants $650 to $800 before parts and taxes. I'll pay it if I have to but I was wondering if anyone here can do the work properly, and possibly for less money.

I'm willing to ride some distance and leave the bike for a week or so.

    Any thoughts or suggestions?

    Thanks, Rich

Just over 25k km on my 07, I took one side apart to get an idea of if I needed to shim or not. Needless to say I shouldnt have bothered.

Can you hear a ticking sound? Is it loud if you can? If no to either then you can skip it for now. It will let you know when it needs to be done, also if you have the fsm and common service manual then its not hard, just time consuming. Most dealers will sell you shims fairly reasonably priced. Just remember honda shims are more expensive but are the same as everyone elses.
