Hi, I just need a little bit of help. I have taking my forks apart to put in new oil. Going for the Honda SS-47. I generally ride two up and last year the bike was nose diving when breaking and the wife was sliding into me, even under light breaking. The oil came out red at first and then just turned a nasty black colour. I have new seals already, I didn't order bushings as the bike has only done 8000 km in 13 years. Do you think these should be replaced? Fork oil Straps to keep the front off the ground. I don't need the stop being a tight ass etc and just do it. Money to me at the moment is everything. For the past 4 months I have had 5 surgeries for cancer, I have another one next week. I lost my job 2 years ago because of this cancer. (Company wouldn't support me through the pain I was in. Dr's couldn't see anything on MRI or PET scan. 2 years later they decide to operate on the lumps and was told it is cancer.... hence all the surgeries. Thanks everyone....
I’ve seen a lot worse and oil that has come out a metallic grey and stinking. I would be happy to reuse but replacements will only be a few pounds each should you wish to. Put in a heavier weight oil or alter your fork springs to your weight. You could invest in a tribo non slip seat for your good lady. Again not much but it will help get relax without the fear of sliding forward.
I have read that if I put in a thicker oil then it will also help. So I am going for a 10 instead. Hopefully it will make a difference. If not then next time I will go for a different spring. Just trying the cheapest option first, which is oil, before looking at the spring.
