K, my old Hurricane 1000 I could be doing a buck 20 (Canadian) and let off the throttle with no hands on the bars and it was smooth sailing. Arrow straight.
Now my 86 VFR 750 on the other hand...does the handle bar wooble.
Do you think somebody before me (19 previous owners...ugh) did a number on the front end?
Would a steering stabilizer remedy this or that just a bandaid?

A stabilizer would be a bandaid for the concern you're describing. Assuming you're driving on a smooth road. Check front tire for cupping, out of balance. Check steering head bearings for looseness, flat spots, over tight(very unlikely). Good luck, it's probably just the front tire but after 19 owners and 20+ years, might be time for some front end rebuilding.

could be, but more than likely headstock or wheel bearings. You can get a replacement set from

before getting into this, make sure your tires are in good condition, not squared off and the the proper pressure.

    here is the "how to"

STOCK headset bearings are usually loose and dented by about 25-30,000 miles, sooner if the bike's been wheelied.
