I just got my new fairing kit and I am in the process of removing my old OEM fairings. On my rear fairing under the seat, I noticed these heat shields that obviously protect the fairing from the heat coming off the exhaust. I have aftermarket FMF Apex pipes and so I am not sure about a couple of things. First of all, were these heat shields stock on the bike or were they added with the aftermarket pipes? (Obviously, I bought this bike used and I am trying to figure things out) If they came stock, do I really need them with my aftermarket FMF Apex pipes? These don't seem to be running that hot. If it is better safe than sorry to put them on (which I would prefer to do anyway) where can I buy them or something that will work in their place? Thanks for the help, Bryson
Will any adhesive backed heat shielding suffice? I figured since this is a fender area where a lot of water probably splashes up, I would need something that is somewhat sealed as the shields are that are on the OEM fairing.
