As title asks, I am planning on going +2 on the rear sprocket, and buy an oem front sprocket. So will the stock length chain work or does it need to be bigger?

I would think that you do. Try to measure the distance covered by two teeth and compare it with the measurement of a link. You might get away without with just a one tooth increase, but I would be surprised if you would with a two. But that is just me using reasoning. If there is someone else here who is in the know, then speak up.

When I got my new chain I had to take some links out. I think they just come in a few sizes. Ie 120 links 130 links and so on so I would think the stock would have a few extra to play with.

I know that if you order a chain from DID, you say how many teeth are in the front and rear sprockets, they send you a chain the proper size for that set of sprockets on your specific bike. Now will they give you information as to the number of links you need to accommodate the increase of teeth in your rear sprocket, without ordering a product from them, I do not know. You can always ask I guess.

I'll probably go with a d.I.d. chain. I don't wanna cheap out. I just figured someone on this forum had done that combo before. I tried searching +2 but nothing showed. I guess you can only search words.

    According to http://www.gearingcommander.com/
A 1997 VFR750F has 112 links standard, and with +2 on the rear you will need 113 links. The final result will be a shortened sprocket distance of 0.55mm (aka sweet f.a.)

It's a great website for these sorts of things, you should check it out and have a play around.
