I'm looking to buy a Gen5 VFR, and I found a Euro model in seemingly very nice condition (1999 model year). Can anyone tell me the differences between the Euro and US models? I live in the US, and I am concerned about investing my time and money in a bike designed and marketed for Europe. I'm concerned about things like availability, problems with getting service in US service shops, aftermarket part compatability, ECU mapping for Euro octant gas, etc. As it is, I know it has an aftermarket pipe (Micron) and Power Commander...and apparently the FI light flickers intermittently under load (the owner blames it on the PC not being 100% compatible with the Euro model bike).

Any thoughts or comments would be greatly appreciated.

Try talking with the guys over on the VFR Discussion board - they make have some comments. My initial investigation has shown that only the lighting and switching are different - the rest of the bike is the same. I would kill for a Euro model - no hesitation here with buying one....
