The main difference between the both model, it-s just the modification of the RPM range, to switch on or off the VTEC.

On the 02-04 model the vtec start 6800 rpm and stop at 6300 rpm.

Since 06 model the vtec start at 6600 rpm and stop at 6100 rpm.

The aim of this modification is to to soften the triggering of the vtec.

Motorcycle Consumer News recently tested a new vfr and compared it to the 02 test results. Nice article. Conclusion... There is absolutely no difference in the dyno charts. Everything is exactly the same as before except the sales brochure.

And the testers still loved the bike.

The 04 comes in what in my opinion is the best red color ever painted on a bike. The 06 only comes in black and white.

Guess what color mine is ...

Forgot to add - I THINK that the 06 and 07 have more holes in the fuel injectors for a finer mist, and then there is also the clear vs. amber turn signal lenses. There is a small difference in the tach face.

By all means and standards, they are the same bike.
If you're buying used, get the newest one or the one with the least miles. Or hell, even your favorite color!

I actually like the higher VTEC engagement of my 2003, cuz when I'm exceeding the speed limit for several miles on the highway, VTEC is not an issue. Even better, it's only a few hundred RPM away so engagement comes on quickly after the throttle is opened wider.

I couldent agree more if your buying used buy the one with the best color for you, and the lowest miles other than that a gen 6 is a gen 6 their basically the same bike.
