ya know what jammer....I have a had a hard time finding a pair of jeans which had reinforcement in the saddle/ass/rear. Most would have knee double stitching and reinforcement and that was it. I finally settled on Cortech Jeans. They have removeable knee foam protection as well as reinforcement and saddle protection. The reinforcement is leather/denim on the inside. They are kinda smelly though....the leather can be slighty stinky...or as our aussie friends say....manky...

what's a "crotch gusset"? Do I need one for the up-right riding position of the VFR?

These pants have one, a "comfortable" one at that, but does "comfortable" equate to "roomy"?

Can we force one of the newbies to call Rider Warehouse to ask about this as part of the initiation?

A crotch gusset in this case is a diamond shaped panel that is sewn into the garment to increase the range of mobility. On each leg, it looks like a narrow triangle of material with the wide portion starting at the crotch and tapers down as it travels down in the inside of the thigh, with the vertex of the triangle down the leg. If you can imagine the wide portions of the two left and right gussets meeting at the crotch, then the overall shape would look like a "diamond" I had my first pair of Hein Gericke leather pants gusseted this way to increase the room I had when swinging my leg over the bike and while sitting in the riding position. The gusset also gives you so more legroom for hanging off a bit, if you do that while riding.

You can see different gusssets for Aerostich garments shown here...

    Cool

Thanks Puma. The crotch gusset guarantees that these pants are not a cheap hotel.

but I'm over budget on cycle stuff for a bit... thanks for the heads-up on 'em
