Alright, this is a new rider story.

I've never ridden a street bike before, but have always wanted to. So last month I took the safety course and afterwards was hooked. After hours of research on different bikes, I couldn't take my eyes off the VFR. So, for the past 3 weeks I've been toiling with the idea. The wife doesn't think it's a great idea, and I probably could drop the money into my IRA, but hey, it's a VEEFER. So I did some looking around and found an 06 black with ABS. The salesman said I had to get a deposit down on the bike ASAP. So I went to the bank and did a wire transfer. Unfortunately, the bank missed the cutoff time and couldn't get it out until today. I called the salesman back to confirm the transfer and he tells me - someone just bought the bike. NNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOO !!!!!!!!!!! All the weeks of stressing over this, and now I can't get it. No one else in town has one. I wanted to cry (not really, men don't cry). BUT, then he tells me he can get another one still in the crate and it'll only take 7-10 days to be ready to go. YYYYYYYEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSS !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've looked through all the posts but can't find many posts regarding purchase prices. I'd like to know if I'm getting a good deal. I bought the invoice list from cyclebuy but can't find any info on rebates. Currently the salesman said there are rebates so I'd like to make sure I'm getting a great deal.

Any other words of advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks. I can't wait.

k9 - I bought a new '06 black from Ray Delgado at LA Cyclesports, now known as Out The Door Cycle Sports - http://www.otdcyclesports.com/

What they do is apply all factory rebates, discounts, taxes, prep fees, etc, and give you the 'out the door' price. There is no negotiating, they list the lowest possble OTD price they can do. They are a volume dealer so I guess that helps them get pretty big factory rebates/bonuses. They have almost no overhead. They have a big warehouse packed full of bikes, but no show room and it's not in the nicest part of town.

I spents week researching price and couldn't find anything lower. Then the level of service Ray gave me was exceptional.

I live in Vegas, but the drive to LA was totally worth it. I had someone pick me up in Vegas then rode from LA to Santa Barbara for the weekend, then drove back to Vegas. Was a nice trip :)

what is he offering the black '06 ABS for? If its brand new, tell him youll pay 10k. I bought a new '07 ABS RWB in winter for 11K with a SHOEI RF-1000 ($500 helmet), so you should be able to make that 10K happen, but do it before spring comes!
The VFR is a sick bike man, even if you gotta eat PB&J for a few months, do it to it, cause once you take her to the ton through Vtech, it will take a team of professionals to get the grin off your face. (but be careful or that team of professionals might be the police!!)
