As you may know...I recently rendered my "pretty damn new" 99 Viffer useless.

No observed structural damage, but my last "parking job" will require a new headlight, front cowl, left & right side fairings. A new turn signal switch set, wind screen, mirrors, bar end weight. New or repaired Tank......

At first blush, it kinda looks like $2500 parts....plus labor.

    So I'm looking at
Option 1. Pay $4000 to fix bike just Purchased for $4000
    or
Option 2. Buy new bike - part out busted bike ....w/ Sargent seat, Leo Vance exhaust, Givi 3-piece setup, ok forks & front fender & tail section & wheels & engine & trans & heli bars &......
    BTW...I'm no wrench.
Also consider. This is in Seattle. The Dry season for riding started about 5 days ago & goes for about 6 weeks.

    What would you do?

    any input appreciated.

    TIA!

    shoulda made a poll.......

could do the bare minimum to make it usable again, even ugly ones sell if they run. Just sold an 87 without a straight piece of plastic on it.

I agree. Having 8 large in a 10 year-old VFR probably isn't part of any investment advisor's recommended portfolio :)

For the wise reasons stated above, I agree that option #2 is the way to go.

Plus, I bet you could get quite a bit back by parting it out...

I would see if you could collect the insurance money and then by the bike back salvaged.
Take the money and put it away, sell the salvaged bike and make money on this instead of lose money.

I dont now if that is realistic in this situation but I have seen it done with cars plenty of times....

worth looking into if you dont know for sure.

Good luck hope knee feels better!

How much do you want for the Givi 3 piece? Any pics of them?

Obviously, this means I'm for option 2.

    KC-10 FE out...

I'd agree with that, especially having 8 large in a vfr you haven't customized for yourself yet... suspension, tuning, etc......

    Opt. 2
