Deals Gap Winter Rideability

Is it worth trailering our bikes to deals gap the week after Christmas?

 

Well, I can tell ya that with the odd NC weather, there is a fair chance it will be warm and pleasant, but more likely it will be pretty freaking cold, especially at higher elevations in the mountains.
I might worry about about tire grip in the serious cold.
I'm gonna wait till spring myself.

I was there (in a car) after Thanksgiving of '04 and there were traces of snow in some of the corners.

If you value you life & well being, I would not recommend it. It was in the upper 30's in early May so I can almost guarantee there will be snow in Dec. Deals gap is approx 1400 above sea level.

Thanks for the feedback we'll leave the bikes at home. Guess we will have to make another trip next summer.

 

You really need to check the weather in advance of your trip. NC weather can be tricky!
