    Hey folks,

Been a while since my last post, hope everyone is well =) I'm bringing Stacey out of hibernation, the weather is at last improving here in central Germany. Anyway...

During oil change prep, one of the fairing well nuts tore and i had to wrestle the nut off the M5 allen screw using a needle-nose while praying i didn't over-bend the plastics and crack something. All ended well, now I just need to replace said well nut, and probably others.

Anyone know what size they are? Are they C550 like newer Hondas? I just ordered a bunch of those for the RC51 (now undergoing gradual post-crash reconstruction), I can spare a few if they're the right size.

    Thanks, everyone!

If it's for the upper fairing where the grey cover plate attaches to the screen, then it's this one, which is shown in the catalogue as size 'M5.' Having had mine to bits I didn't see any that were a different size to this, and it is shown on this site as suitable for my 1999 FiX.

The only problem with replacing some of them is that they are bonded to the fairing when manufactured and not easy to get back into exactly the right position when being replaced. Holding them tight was also a problem for me - I glued it - and it span round on its axis leaving me with a similar problem to you!

One of these days I'm going to replace every fastener with DZUS 1/4 turn quick release ones.

    Thanks for the feedback, guys!

I got the fairing off finally, along with the worn-out wellnuts, the lower main fairing bolt (the big allen-head screw at the bottom of the fairing) was also wallowed to hell, had to use an easy-out to get it out. I suspect that the PO of the bike was something of a gorilla, he liked to over-tighten things.

The wellnuts are in fact the C550's I suspected they were, most of them are very worn and nearly pulled completely thru their own mounting flats, but the markings are faintly visible on a couple. I'll replace them all, I found a good source for them. Had to order them from Italy, apparently no one in Germany knows what a wellnut is.

Yellow99, I'm gonna try a bit of quick-dry superglue to hold the new nuts in place, I'll put the results here in the thread as a reference.
