I stopped by the DC show this morning with my son and walked the floor for a couple hours. My Highlights: * Stoner's Ducati was the most fun to look at - 326lbs! it had a different gas tank that required the removal of the steering damper ... after staring at the mountpoint on the frame, I finally asked what it was for? a cup holder? The nice North American Tech rep (Aussie/Brit accented english) explained the show tank required the damper removal. I was tempted to jump up to get my picture on it right before I left like the Aussie dude did on Hayden's bike... but did not want to make my son wait for me to get out of the trouble that would have gotten me into. * 08 VFR in silver looks like my RWB in the morning, on a bad hairday, with no make up. The bike is there, but I'm glad I have 25th anniv. The all silver=all vanilla to me. Don't understand why Honda puts the VFR next to the Goldwing, ST, and then doesn't put bags on it... or have two, one with and without to show what the bike is capable of. ah, well, the new Honda wave runner was exciting to look at. Nadda neato stuff to see compared to other folks IMHO. * B-King was felt surprisingly light, and was low enough for me to get both boot heels on the floor (I am inseam challanged at ~30"). Did not see one without the stupid megaphone exhaust... wish an aftermarket pipe was on one... next year. The tank and gauges look goofy as well, but imagine they are not seen much unless you are riding a wheelie...so I'm guessing you'd see them alot on this bike. * the little Kawi 250R is pretty impressive for what it costs. If Kawi can build brand loyalty like Harley, they'll be set in the future as they'll sell a bunch of these to first time riders. (forced son to sit on each color...no, you don't need to sit on the 'Busa...come over here) * better vendors with better stuff this year... but not one but two Zookie booths. (the antifog stuff reviewed elsewhere) * Korean HSONGANG? vendor had arot of vaguery famiriar bikes to rook at. * Buell's new 1125R was a pleasure to throw a leg over. It doesn't look nearly as goofy sitting on it, but still seems to lack the finish I'd expect... from the cable routing to the even the feel of the kick stand... maybe I'm not their market. On the way back out the Southeast end of the Convention center saw a 4th and 5th gen - both red parked on the street and thought next year I'd ride and let the kid drive himself.
dude! where are the pics? I thought you would have loaded this post with umbrella girls... I guess we'll have to count on Tori to be the horny one as usual...
Did I get the numbers wrong on the Buell? er, 1125R, sorry I'll go fix it so no one else gets wood that they found a booboo. I picked up tons of stuff last year, but was lazy this year and didn't. If I had, I assure you I'd have scanned and photoshopped up a picture of the new "1098" with yours truly aboard. I looked for the camera(s) prior to leaving, but didn't find one. My wife had them in her van or something. I have a phone picture of my son on some bikes, but was trying to behave so he wouldn't tell his mommy on me shooting the ladies. (not that there'd be anything to tell honey)
