I haven't noticed anyone mention it so far. Any one bringing their Viffer to Daytona for bike week this year?

I'll be there 3/8-11/07 with my viffer and a variety of others in my group. Plan on doing lots of demo rides at the track, maybe a sprint st and zzr 1400 if possible.

Cool, I live in Lakeland, which is halfway between Tampa and Orlando off I-4.
    Maybe we can meet up?

Sounds good to me! I've never been there during Bike Week. You? What's the requirements for getting on the track? Maybe I can get a PC and K&N installed by then. I just got the bike and it has a Jardine can on it, but that's about all.

Florida has its conservative side and I like the wilder adult type of rallies. I am sure there will be some great bikes, food, people and the sort, but the residents and the cops in Florida are a big negative for me to be interested in going there. Just my perference - I like it wild and crazy and adult oriented with adult contests, women, booze and entertainment - food would be nice and camping would be a good idea too ;0) . If you go enjoy yourself. I do make an exception for Americade which is great for camping, riding and a lot of stuff different stuff to do. It is also a great rally to take a significant other to and there are some great clinics and races. Americade is held at Lake George which offers some privacy from the locals and the over zealous cops, and you can enjoy some freedom. Too bad I am in NYC because some of the bigger and brodacious rallies are in Tn, Texas and Ark. - Speaking generally - do not mean to leave anyone out. Florida would always be my last choice next to South Carolina - Both of these places suffer from sometimes severe racism, conservative residents and over zealous law enforcement. Just not for me.

TBay - Bike Week can be a blast. This will be the first one I've missed since 1985. It is a circus. That's what makes it fun.

The cruiser crowd usually gathers in / around Main Street. If you enjoy seeing a parade of humanity like no other, take a little time to go down there.

True story: Me and Mrs. Ferris are sitting on the curb on Main St a couple of years ago, watching these folks go by. One bike in particular is easing by, some old guy and his wife on it. The wife is pretty hot, and constant shouts of "Show your t*%s" are heard from the crowd. The guy whips his shirt up, and hollers back - "You f@#$ers have been asking me all day!!". If you are able to lighten up and enjoy, this can be pretty fun.

On the other side of town, the track will be abuzz with sportbikes. Nobody - except the racers - is getting to ride on the track, but it is a pretty cool scene anyway. Most all of the mfg's have their demo ride tents set up there. I've always watched the races from the infield, and tickets are cheap. Getting a spot on the infield straight is usually never a problem. The trouble with Daytona is that the track is so large, the best seat in the house is in front of a T.V! You either get a good look at the infield, or a good look at whichever part of the tri-oval you are in front of. The 200's have gotten a little predictable the past few years ( whoever is running 2nd draft passes the leader at the line ) but is still awesome to see up close.

As it winds down, good deals can be had on all kinds of bike stuff - vendors don't want to haul all that stuff back home, and you would be stunned how cash talks.

    Anyway, enjoy.

Thanks for all the info, too bad you won't be making it this year. I'll probably hang out near the track most of the time. It would probably be a good place to get some pics for my photo class. Then again... A parade of humanity would offer some enlightening subjects. I know Sargent is going to be there, maybe I can talk them down on a new seat. Oh yeah, this should be fun!
