Has anyone got a custom made Sargent seat 1" to 2" lower than stock? If so, how do you like it. Thanks.
I had a great deal of foam removed by a great local upholstery shop when I first got my '00 VFR. They were very experienced with motorcycle saddle mods, got the job done in an hour for $50. At 5'5" with a 29" inseam, it helped a great deal but I also rode in Red Wing logger's boots with a big heel to get me close to flatfooting. Just last month I picked up a set of these Daytona M-Stars, and they provided a ton more protection with the height I needed. These boots, combined with the lower saddle, are great. Sure, it's probably not as 'plush' as the standard Honda plank, but I don't really suffer from numb butt or any discomfort from the reduced OEM foam, and I've never wanted to go the Corbin / Sargent route for the sake of funds. Hope that helps you some. Here's the link to the boots: http://www.helimot.com/shopexd.asp?id=74
I'm 5'6" with 29" inseam on a good day. I had a custom seat made by http://www.richscustomseats.com/. He used the fatory pan, cut and reshaped the foam based on both mine and my passenger's measurements, and inserted gel seats for both driver and passenger. Then, 'cause he said he was bored with all black leather covers, I let him do a two tone black & silver carbon patern that matched silver '03 very well. The end result is an awesome seat that is cumfy, lets me get almost completely flat footed, and looks bitchin' (if anyone's interested I'll try to post a photo when I get back home). The pricing on is web site is enigmatic but 'cause he used the factory pan, it cost a little less than $600. I was expecting to pay around $800. It was pricy but it locks me into the cockpit like nothing has before. Good luck!
