I am building my first motorcycle from the frame up.
I have built bikes that included a modified frame etc, but this is my first for a new frame as well.

OK I have a VFR 1000 engine complete with carbs etc., and wiring harness.

I am working on the frame now and would like to know if any members could tell be the width of the frame under the engine. Like how wide are the stock frame rails. It should be easy since the original frame has square tubing.

    Thanks.

The inside spacing is 250mm almost exactly. I hope this helps!

Thanks for taking the time sending that information Jamie.
That is very helpful to know the stock frame width underneath the engine when building the new frame.

Not sure yet about the frame design.
I just want to get the engine IN the frame jig and check out
how much space I have to work with. You know seat height, cooling system space etc.,.

I lowered the work table today 8 inches to be able to use my hydraulic lift table to get the engine in and out of the frame.

Last time I built a bike I used a cardboard cutout of the engine but I need the real engine this time.
