I recently bought an 86 VFR750F with cobra pipes on it. They were loud and the baffles were is a bit of rough shape. So I decided to make some new ones and take pics and tell you about it. To start get a Thrush glass pack with 2 in inlet and outlet and 3.5 inch body. I got the 31 inch version so I could make both from 1 glass pack. Here is the better of the two originals. BTW mine came pre modded with the holes in the center facing different directions on each muffler. To start set one end of the glass pack into the cobra can and using a marker mark the diameter. After you cut along the line you should have a piece that is a little too big. a few swipes on the bench grinder should fix that. Cut off both sides. They are press fit onto the inner pipe so smack it with a hammer a few times to knock the inner section out. Now cut off the inlet and slip it into the end piece Then a quick shot from the flux welder and it was in place Now for the inside I got a 1_3/4 to 1_1/2 inch adapter from pepboys and a length of 1.5 inch pipe to make the silencer. Insert one in the other and weld together. I cut the 1.5 inch pipe about half way up the baffle. Longer and it will be really rattley and shorter it will be loud and deeper. Here is the empty can Now using the fiberglass it cam with and a little muffler Glass around that I installed the product. Careful when you install the can is aluminum and where the baffle slips over at the bottom must be aligned or it will mess up the can when you pound it in. All set here is the sound turn up the speakers my camera mic is only ok. Also it is still loud but not as loud as the cobra esp when at constant speed. http://s86.photobucket.com/albums/k93/midias12/?action=view¤t=MOV01345.flv And just in case you are curious here is my 82 V45 with Macs and a stock header. http://s86.photobucket.com/albums/k93/midias12/?action=view¤t=MOV01346.flv
