I searched these questions, but still wanted to get advice.

I filled the gas tank and the gauge registered that it was full while at the gas station. By the time I got on the street the gauge said half full. After 40 miles it says I only have a quarter of a tank. I did read that the gauge can be wonky, but this seems pretty bad. Should I look at fixing it or just see how many miles I get on one tank and keep track that way?

Also, the throttle is really touchy while trying to maintain slow speeds. It's hard to keep it at 25mph. I read this can be normal. Or should I have the throttle cable adjusted?

    Thanks

Open your tank cap and have a look to see how much is in there. Also check your oil level. If your fuel pressure regulator has split its diaphram, you're pumping extra fuel into the vacuum line, and potentially washing the cylinder bores, and depositing fuel into the oil.

The gauage was blinking because of low fuel the other day and when I looked there was a half tank.

I won't have time to look at this until tomorrow. Wouldn't issue be pretty drastic?

If the gauge is blinking when you have half a tank, then the issue is the fuel level sensor, a wiring issue, or the instrument cluster.

When you said about the other issue, I thought the two might be linked, but the new info makes me think they're probably not.
