So after owning my baby for 8 months, I have managed to put over 5k miles on her. Here is a list of questions I have yet answered.....

    1) Whats the average mileage for rear/front tires..? Just a round figure.

    2) Whats the "hands-down" best tire combination/type?...Think (200-500 $'s)

    3) I have ordered a two-up rear sprocket after extensive reading here, I have also read that after 5k miles or so the chain will fit due to "stretch", was I drinking or is that true???

    4) Whats the average speedometer error with this set-up...Like a real world make-up...(+3mph-8mph)

    5) Will new brake pads really help..? She seems a little hard to slow down..

I have learned more about this bike from these bikes from this forum than any place...Help me out please!!!>>>

    Thanks in Advance

I got around 9000 kms. on my Bridgestone tires (stock). 9000kms. on my Avon's so far and they're good for another 5000km or so. It's probably best to ask riders in your area. They'll know what the roads are like, and the conditions you're riding. Tires wear fast up where I live due to the "chip seal" on the road, and all the gravel.
Braking....hmmm....mine does fine. Maybe try a mechanic on site here?
I guess I'm not much help. But, I tried..... :)

Not an answer to your question, but a recommendation nontheless.

After your gearing change, buy a "speedohealer" Your junk will be "ballz-on-accurate" after that no matter what you have done to her.

    I love mine !

    1) Whats the average mileage for rear/front tires..? Just a round figure.
6-9K for front, 6-8k for rear. Depends on tire, riding style and other factors. I got about 6000 out of factory rear, but around 8000 with a Conti Road Attack. And a little more than that on the fronts for both the factory and the Road Attack.

    2) Whats the "hands-down" best tire combination/type?...Think (200-500 $'s)

I love Conti Road Attacks!!! All I'm saying.

    3) I have ordered a two-up rear sprocket after extensive reading here, I have also read that after 5k miles or so the chain will fit due to "stretch", was I drinking or is that true???

I don't know about the chain fitting after 5K on a two up sprocket. I checked my chain tension around there and don't remember there being that much adjustment needed. Someone else may be able to answer this one better.

    4) Whats the average speedometer error with this set-up...Like a real world make-up...(+3mph-8mph)

    5) Will new brake pads really help..? She seems a little hard to slow down..

My bike seems to stop pretty much right when and where I want it, but I'd say give 'em a shot, they probably couldn't hurt. Right?

Oh yeah, love the bike, and not just because it looks mostly like mine either!

Thanks for the help, I checked out the speedo healer online...NICE!!
My tire wear seems pretty average as well....
As far as the sprocket, I did a little more looking and found that the sprocket will "just fit" after 5k... So I am assuming that it will take a little work..Are the chains able to be lengthened..??? I would hate to get up to the dealership and have them tell me it is not going to work....

    1) Whats the average mileage for rear/front tires..? Depends on the tire of course. I got about 5,500 miles from a Dunlop Qualifier on the rear, and about 12,000 miles on the front. But then I ride a bit aggressively, too.

    2) Whats the "hands-down" best tire combination/type?...Not really sure what you mean by combo/type. If you are looking for a price on tires, swmototires.com has reasonable prices. You may also find a good deal, but not much selection, at solomotoparts.com

    3) I have ordered a two-up rear sprocket after extensive reading here, I have also read that after 5k miles or so the chain will fit due to "stretch", was I drinking or is that true??? The chain is going to stretch after 5k miles regardless. However, going +2 on the rear will increase acceleration, but reduce top end speed and to some extent mpg.

    4) Whats the average speedometer error with this set-up...Like a real world make-up...(+3mph-8mph) I think real-world is something like 8% - 10% error to the fast side. Going up +2 will increase that, meaning you will be shown as going faster than you are. A speedo-healer will correct the error in either case.

    5) Will new brake pads really help..? She seems a little hard to slow down. - Depends on how worn they are. If they are really worn, then yes replacing them will help. Also, bleeding the brakes may also bring soem feel back into them.

For the record....I did find the thread where a guy states he put a 2 up sprocket on a brand new 2007 VFR without any miles on it and it fit...I am assuming that with my wear and stretch it should fit perfect....WOW...we really could use a 6th gen sprocket/chain replacement write up.....Where you at GUYS????? I will be waiting for it....As for the speedo being off....Im thinking maybe thats not that bad of an idea...keeps me legal too....
