I have a 2007 25th anniversary. Had an oil leak the countershaft oilseal probably wasn't the problem. Pulled the old seal anyway as I had a replacement, but the new one looks very difficult to go in from the outside. Thought it could be pressed in like a main seal. Or does the case needs to be split. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Gerry

If it has to be split, can I turn the motor upside down and split from bottom? Gerry

Splitting the case is quite a chore on gen 6, I would cut the grove off the OD of the new seal and drive it in with some sealant before ripping the bike apart.

I was thinking the same thing. you've given me hope. I was even thinking shaving half the seal off and have that part of the seal under the shift linkage cover and the remaining part of the seal with the lip on the uncovered area. Again, thanks. Gerry
