So I picked this little guy up since the dude seemed in over his head and just wanted it gone. Sold as “can’t find neutral and isn’t running”.
I handed him less then he wanted and found neutral while placing it in the truck. Didn’t have any oil (weird), coil was hanging off and the ground(?) wire was nearly fractured off.
Seems like it has compression, it holds engine oil (was thinking crack in case sown low). Petcock is new and works. Tank is pretty much rust free inside. Couldn’t get it to run. I think the carb needs cleaning and check on settings. No manual, so I need to find that first.
    Behold!

this is one of those, I just want to see if I can type of learning experiences. Don't have a time line or budget and don't care. Seems like it will be fun and if it works it will great to get around the yard. :)

Very cool....looks to be in pretty good shape overall. Curious why it didn't have any oil....that is very odd.......

    Keep us posted!

My buddy picked one up real cheap recently. His is a 70s version. We've taken it up to Road America the last two years. Riding those little bikes is both hilarious and also damn scary with those tiny tires! Be careful on that thing!

Also, if you need some motivation to get working and haven't seen it before, James May's "The Reassembler" episode on the old Honda is a good one.

It looks like a Chinese knock off coil, is it worth it to purchase the $120 Honda part? Being on here long enough, I think I answered my own question. lol
