my bike wont pull after 5,000 rpm, i have cleaned the carbs and replaced spark plugs and checked the compression. i thought that maybe the fuel pump might be faulty? can anybody recognize what could be wrong with this Honda?

You may want to check the "Advance Mechanism". My Honda Spec book says full advance is at 3,000rpm. It's located on the end of the crankshaft. I can't remember what side. Easy to get to though. Sometimes they freeze up or the springs break. Here is a pic of an Advance Unit(not a Honda).[IMG]. Plus, maybe something came loose in the carbs like a main jet. It's happened to me. Good luck.

The VF500F uses a CDI system - pulse generators & spark boxes.
