hey i'm sort of new to the vfr scene..at least on the web soooo...i don't know what the advantage would be to convert a 530 sprocket set/chain to a 520. help me to understand please. i need sprockets and a chain... thanks the Maj
Hi motomaj. The conversion to 520 saves you a little bit of weight but not a lot and its probably also a litle less expensive thatn 530 pitch equipment. I did the Vortex 520 conversion, a vortex front/rear sprocket set with an RK X-ring chain. I noticed a little difference in the feel of how the bike accellerated. It seemed to have a little less drag, but then that could be because my chain and sprockets needed replacing. I also gained alittle in the accelleration dept because I went up 2 teeth, 43 to 45, on the rear.
^yep what he said But for me I stayed 530 with stock gearing as in 16-43 it felt right to me. Price could be a bit better going 520. especially if you go buying a set of sprockets and chain combo I know it's a better price. other wise unless your racing, not much can be felt, I've done it both ways and haven't notice anything that jumps out at me. Like V-man was saying either drop a tooth on the counter shaft or up on the rear will give you more snap. Ha but at a top speed cost, lol ya I know who goes there? other thing with a gear ratio change comes the Speed-O well be off. other than that, it's your call sorry to say.
