Howdy. I have a "new" '84 VF750F I'll be shipping south on a barge from Alaska. I intend to secure the bike in the container with 4 ratchet straps but I don't want to damage this bike's impeccable  suspension by overtightening the straps and overcompressing the suspension. I also don't want my bike to topple during shipping and rattle around in the container. Anybody have any experience with this? Thanks!

Have you contacted a shipping company? I bet they could tell you pretty quick. Unfortunately, I don't have the personal experience with it, but that's who I'd call.

If your bike will be in shipping for an extended period (weeks or months) you may suffer from spring degradation. If it is only a few days, I wouldn't be concerned about it. I have had bikes "compressed" for long periods and seen / felt no change afterwards.

Be safe and strap er down good!!:lever:

I like the icon of the guy strapping 'er down. With the glasses and the wimpy arm he even kinda looks like me . . . .
