I'll post a pic asap, but I noticed my clutch reservoir was low, then noticed a build-up of oily goo all over my kickstand. (it coagulated before dripping onto the ground)

Looks like a slow leak out of the clutch/shifter area. I have a VFR mechanically inclined friend who can help (since I'm not), but is this potentially a big & difficult fix?

    thanks!

Sounds like a clutch slave cylinder gone bad.

I had the same thing happen on my 6th gen. I just pulled the slave cylinder apart and replaced the gasket and rubber seals. That took care of the problem. Cost about $10 in parts and you'll have to bleed your clutch. Air likes to hide on the banjo bolts and slave cylinder.

Thanks for the advice. Turns out it was a false alarm, and it was just a bunch of chain goo gunked up in that area. Phew!
