Howdy! I'm wanting a quick pole form the more informed regarding the two pictures I have posted below. I have an 01 VFR and I'm on my 3rd season with the bike. It has 12k on the clock. This weekend I de-clogged the fast idle wax unit and I'm worried about what the rest of the motor may look like. The bike runs as any other VFR I've seen temp wise (usually 200-210 sometimes 220, sometimes 190). However, with as clogged and compact as the unit was, I'm worried about everything else.

I'm worried someone put the wrong coolant in it.

The bike only had 6900 miles on it when I bought it which makes me want to believe this is the original koolaid that came with the bike.

    What do you guys think?

That is poor at best. I can only suggest cleaning what you can and blowing through the lines and running some clean water through it in an attempt to flush it oot. Would suggest doing it several times and seeing what you get and go from there.

Im really wondering how old this coolant is. Must be the original coolant from 01.

With coolant that old, the water has to of seperated and burned away over time, especially if you have a bad seal somewhere where the water can escape. Most likely, that is 12 year old glycol, corrosion inhibitors like silicates and phosphates, lubricants, and crap from your system that settled and hardened with the loss of water...

Clean it out, flush, and monitor the new fluid carefully...

I have flushed the system 3 times. The 2nd time the color was barely green. The 3rd time showed no sign of the green goo. New coolant has gone into the bike and it seems to be running the business. Thanks for the help fellas. I'll be monitoring accordingly...
