    Greeting all,

About 3 weeks ago I picked up a 98 VFR and I love it. I went for a 200 mike ride this morning and everything was great, albeit a little cold.

I rode into work this afternoon and when I came out to go home I noticed my clock was 1:00am and my trip was 0.0.

Is this a sign of the stator r/r issue? If not, any suggestions? I'm going to check the battery once I get home, but as I stand here worried, I thought I post my 1st time to the forum.

    cheers,
    Kevin (aka HellFishTat)

Test the battery for voltage and load to insure a healthy battery
Next would be the Stator and RR

    Hi Kevin

I'm also new to my 99 VFR which I got earlier this year. I have had this happen twice now, both times the reset happened during a re-start with a warm engine. I think we are seeing an ageing battery as the R/R etc won't be playing any part at that time. I have a voltmeter fitted and get about 13.8-14.0v while riding, but see quite low numbers (11.6-11.8) pre start up. Which I believe shows that the alternator and R/R are fine but the battery is not holding charge particularly well.

Mine started that right before it fried the main fuse at the starter relay, then the relay itself. I'd check that too.
