I'm trying to clean the carbs on my bike, but cannot pull them off. I have pulled off the airbox and the metal box underneath airbox, disconnected the choke and throttle cables, and disconnected the fuel lines. As far as I can tell there is nothing else connecting the carbs to the engine except for the rubber boots attaching the carbs to the intake. Now, how do I actually pull the carbs off the engine? I've loosened the clamps on the boots connecting the carbs to the intake, but haven't been able to wiggle or pull the carbs free. Do I have to separate the carbs the pull each one separately? I would really appreciate some help with this.

    Thanks,

    Nick

first thing..............PUT THE AIR PLENUM BACK ON!!!!!!!!!! you will break the plastic tubes in between the carbs and loose springs.do not....I repeat ...... DO NOT take the air plenum off unless you are planning to tear the carbs all the way apart,

The carb bank comes off as one unit...all four together......thats it..... from the sounds of it you are goiing to need new carb insulators

second...any carb cleaning thread....if you search will give you good directions

    http://vfrworld.com/forums/mechanics-garage/22449-cleaning-carbs.html

anyway yeah the years aren't the same , but the concept is identical, there isn't anything different about it other than the age.

here is a pretty good step by step instructional on how to do it.... maybe I will make a video on carb removal....
