I feel so guilty for letting my old girl sit in the garage for so long, but life gets in the way. Now she sits out in the driveway waiting go again! My only regret not having the money to do a full restoration with the original colors. Great article, it was love at first site in 83 when I happened to go to a dealer in Toronto just to see what was new. Had no idea it even existed.

Peter, I see that you've owned your 83 since new. Did you buy it when you saw it there at the Toronto dealership?

Yes, I bought my first one then, I work for a design/build firm in Toronto who got the contract to build all venues outside the Olympic village at UCLA in 84. They needed an onsite project manager, so I volunteered. I had them air freight th bike to LA in lieu of milage expenses. Ended up getting a job in CA and stayed. Late in 85 I crashed the original one and then bought a friends identical bike when I found out dealer had screwed up cam recall and there were pieces of metal in the sump! Transfered oil cooler, V&H pipes & Corbin seat to the sister ship, which is the one I have now. Still have a lot of parts from #1.

Nice blurb from Eddie Mulder too. Fast guy enough to have won the Pike's Peak nine times in a row and a shitload of AMA TTs at Ascot. Great quote from EM..."When the flag drops, the bullshit stops!"

This applies too to the fortunate few who can drop their skivvies and repeat the quote.. ;)

Daydreaming...Imagine a hookup of Britten and Buell..

Never thought of that dream team Bill, could have been something cool. 45 was way to young to pass. Interesting how he alluded to using nature in his design work.

I wonder if there are any of his bikes in the US? Another kind of sad thing about his passing is that a street bike might have been in the plans.

Nice photos Grey. I have a bunch from Barber too. Seeing that particular bike in person is mesmerizing. Love doing track days there and visiting the coolest museum in the world.
