Anyone pick up the new GNR album? It does sound more modern with the hint of an electronic sort of sound, but it's still Guns N' Roses. If you haven't heard it or picked it up, yet, go on their myspace! Great album. Axl Rose seriously knows his stuff. 15 years of anticipation and amazingly they don't disappoint, hard to pull off! On a more relevant note, I just picked up a 1984 VF500F from Burbank last week for $400. Not even 7k miles. Clean title, been raced, tho. Only problem is carbs, as usual. Gonna clean it up and possibly rebuild depending on the damage done. It was running for a while with the choke on a bit but eventually it wouldn't even want to idle. Good deal, anyhow. Oh, I forgot to mention it's around 5 shades of bright green/yellow, that'll change soon, tho, haha.
NO offense intened ( of course), but why would anyone want a pre-'86 Honda?? Your VF 500 will be more aggravation and more $$$$ than a later, larger bike, IMHO. The going market price of a '86 VFR 700 is a bargain, and the engine is nearly bulletproof......
Maybe not everyone has your likes and desires? I had a 1926 BSA. A lot of aggravation and hard to get parts for. The hardest to ride vehicle I ever rode. I loved that bike. Csumner, welcome to the site and enjoy your 500. (And no, I'm not interested in GnR's album. Different tastes.)
I played Appetite For Destruction in my '84 Mustang GT until the tape stretched out and Axl's vocals became even higher and screechier!!! Then I bought another cassette tape and rocked-out some more!!! This new project has none of the excitement that Appetite had, hell, this ain't even Guns'n'Roses....It's an Axl vanity project with a hired band. Not saying that I don't like what I've heard so far,but I'm not at all excited about it! Go get the newest Maiden disc, and you'll see hear a true metal act with real integrity and incredible tunes!!!!!!!!:guitar::rockon: Oh,yeah....Old VFRs ROCK!!!!
squirrelman, I'm into older vehicles haha, plus I'm not too experienced with motorcycles and after some research and seeing what was available used in my area I picked up the bike. I also have a 1973 Datsun 240Z that's in the making right now. Gatekeeper, thanks for the welcome! supervfr, the album name is Chinese Democracy. powerslave, I understand your view, I felt that way, too, but it surprised me when I first heard it because they adjusted to what people listen to but they still sound like Guns N' Roses. So they did change, but you can still hear the same old sound in it. It shows how much influence Axl Rose had in the band back then, usually singers aren't what makes the band, but I definitely agree that it would be better with Slash and everyone, but I think this is the best he can aim for with what he's got. In the mean time I'll go check out that new Iron Maiden album.
Couldn't have said it better myself...and this is coming from a BIG G'NR fan. Oh, and this is a VFR site btw....welcome!
