my friend is looking at getting into bikes. He seemed damn set on a newer crotch rocket, but I sort of talked him down to at least an older bike as a first bike. I was hoping to get him on a ninja 500 or possibly an SV650... but he is set on having a fully faired bike sport bike with clip-on handlebars. He took the MSF course shortly after I did, only difference was that I had bought my first bike before I started the MSF course- this will be his first bike. Anyway, in the case that he is really interested in getting this bike, I want to make sure he is getting a good bike and that he is not paying too much. I myself was/am looking for an 08-01 VFR, then he comes out of nowhere and hits me with this find on craigslist: 1991 Honda VFR 750f Red He apparently loves the look of the bike, especially for its year. Now, I myself am new here so I know a little about the 98-01 VFR's from the searching that I've done here and online, but the 90-97 VFR's I know nothing about aside from them being carburated. Are 91 VFR's worth $2700? What is a reasonable offer for this year bike if not? What can I look for tomorrow that will tell to to either walk away or take it home? My other friend will be doing the riding since my knee is still funky from my accident... so is there anything that I can tell him to look for or listen for when he test rides it? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
